Smart home technology has moved far beyond lights, smart plugs, and voice commands. Today, it’s helping us automate blinds, optimise heating, and even cook with more precision than ever. The MeatStick V brings smart home intelligence straight to the kitchen and BBQ, offering a fully wireless, app-connected cooking probe built for serious performance. We put it through its paces to see how it stacks up.

What Is the MeatStick V?
The MeatStick V is a high-performance wireless meat thermometer engineered for extreme cooking environments. Its fire-resistant ceramic handle, advanced zirconia construction, and precision sensors allow it to withstand open flames, searing grills, and high heat smokers while delivering laboratory-grade temperature accuracy.

Built for reliability under intense conditions, it provides consistent, accurate readings for perfectly cooked results every time.
Smart Base Station
The Smart Base acts as the MeatStick’s connectivity hub, extending both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth range for dependable monitoring across large homes, outdoor spaces, or remote setups.

With quick charging, stable performance, and an intuitive interface, it ensures seamless temperature tracking, whether you’re cooking in the kitchen, grilling in the backyard, or preparing food off the grid.
Long-Range Smart Connectivity
With robust Wi-Fi support and Bluetooth 5.4 Long Range, the MeatStick V offers monitoring capabilities up to 275 metres (900+ feet). Whether you’re at home, in the garden, or camping, it ensures reliable temperature tracking across a wide range.
The base station also acts as the door to the cloud service. An icon on the top right of the app lets you know if you are connected via the extender or the cloud. It is great to be miles away and still be able to monitor the Sunday roast.

Setting Up the MeatStick V & Base Station
Setup is simple:
- Download the MeatStick App
- Create an account
- Follow the guided on-screen instructions

Firmware updates are managed directly through the app. Some updates may require a quick device reset using a paperclip or SIM tool, but each step is clearly explained. Within minutes, the MeatStick V is ready to go.

The MeatStick V: Oven Cooking
The MeatStick probe is not just for the BBQ. Fortunately, it works equally well indoors as it is certainly not BBQ weather here in Ireland.
I charged the probe using the rather cool USB-C Smart Base with Magnetic Mount. The mount offers a convenient, rechargeable design with built-in magnetic storage while extending the connectivity range.

We placed the probe into the meat, making sure it was past the minimum insertion line. The app, printed instructions, and included label all reinforce this requirement. Within seconds the app was displaying data from the sensors.
The six-sensor TempCore system provides dynamic, real-time temperature detection with ISO-certified accuracy. With a precision of ±0.2°C / ±0.4°F, it delivers lab-grade reliability for consistently perfect results.
The app impressively displays the temperatures from each of the sensors along the barrel of the probe. See the screenshot below. The three screenshots show the start of the cook, during and the final minutes.

Remote monitoring via the cloud was responsive and reliable throughout testing, allowing for worry-free tracking during long cooks. The screenshot (above) shows data via the extender and on the right-hand side access via the cloud. See the top right cloud icon.
The MeatStick V also features ‘Thermocycle-Proof Waterproofing’, achieving an IPX9K rating for extreme heat, extreme cold, and complete dishwasher safety. Its 50+ hour battery life and fast-charging capability ensure long cook sessions without interruption.
Home Assistant Integration (In Development)
MeatStick has a Home Assistant integration on their roadmap. Once released, I suspect users will be able to pull real-time temperature data into their smart home setups for automation, alerts, and advanced cooking workflows. While no official launch date has been announced, development is underway. We will keep you posted.
Conclusion
The MeatStick stands out as a rugged, high performance smart thermometer built for extreme cooking. With robust connectivity, long battery life, precision sensors, and a durable design, it delivers reliability for grillers, smokers, and anyone who wants smarter cooking indoors or out. The app with added cloud service is particularly impressive.
The MeatStick is definitely the perfect gift for any BBQ fan.
